WRINKLES/BOTOX
WHAT IS ANTI WRINKLE / BOTOX TREATMENT
Botox® is a purified protein extracted from Botulinum bacteria used for anti-ageing treatments. It is not animal based. Botox is a prescription-only medication (POM) and is prescribed specifically for you. Over the years Botox has become really popular by celebrities as a way to keep their youthful appearance, but today Botox has become more popular for everyone. This can probably be associated with the low price, the immediate effect it has and that we are more and more concerned about our looks and how others perceive us.
HOW DOES IT WORKS
It is injected into the muscle and stops the muscle from contracting thus preventing lines and wrinkles from appearing by preventing damage to the collagen due to repeated movement such as frowning. It also softens existing lines, therefore restoring a more youthful appearance to the face.
HOW IS THE TREATMENT ADMINISTERED
The treatment involves using very fine needles to inject the product into the relevant areas which takes from seconds to minutes to complete a full face treatment. The treatment is virtually painless and there is no recovery time required. It is very popular to get your botox done during the day so you are ready for socialising in the evening. You do not need to go to a hospital, spend the night and there is no recovery time, you are ready straight away after the botox injections.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS
This is a very safe procedure but bare in mind Botox is a prescription medication and thus you must only be seen by a medically qualified licensed practitioner who can prescribe and supply Botox. The amount of Botox used per injection is extremely minimal. You may experience some minor side effects including minor redness or swelling that subsides within an hour, and very rarely bruising. There is no downtime and so you can resume your daily activities immediately.

FAQS
The best time to consider having Botox® is when you begin to notice that dynamic lines and wrinkles – these are the wrinkles that only appear in movement (such as smiling or frowning). This usually happens in your mid 30’s though it varies from person to person dependant on genetic and lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, stress and smoking. Botox® works best at this stage, rather than waiting and trying to treat deep lines where the collagen in the skin is already damaged and the wrinkle appears even when your muscles and face is not moving!
The longer you wait, the more invasive the treatments for wrinkles become – for example dermal fillers are used when Botox® will not suffice.
Areas that Botox can treat include:
Frown lines – the lines that appear between the eyebrows
Crow’s feet – wrinkles around the eyes
Forehead lines- Those lines that appear when raising your eyebrows
Bunny lines – on the side of the nose when smiling
Necklines – horizontal ‘necklace lines’ and vertical ‘platysmal bands’ (Nefertiti Neck Lift)
Marionette lines- to lift upturned corners
Migraines
Enlarged jaw muscle – due to excessive grinding
Hyperhydrosis- excessive sweating
Botox can stop migraines before they even start, with treatments recommended every twelve weeks for maximum effect. This works by blocking the release of the neurotransmitters that cause pain, and stopping the muscles from contracting thus preventing tension build up which reduces or prevents migraine.
Botox can help with excessive sweating by blocking the signals that the body sends to stimulate sweat glands. It is injected into the skin, and the effects typically last 6 months.
Botox can treat horizontal neck lines and vertical ‘platysmal bands’ in the neck with a treatment known as the Nefertiti Neck Lift, restoring a tighter, lifted and youthful appearance of the neck.
Correctly injected, Botox can relax the muscles that pull up the upper lip, thus reducing the gums on show in a high lip line and even creates a slightly fuller looking lip.
DO use the muscles we have injected in the hour after treatment eg if you have had your crows feet treated, plently of smiling is recommended as research has shown this encourages a quicker uptake of the product.
DON’T
